History

Alpena Community College was established in 1952 to expand educational opportunities throughout northeastern Michigan. Over the decades, the institution grew from a local community college into a regional educational center serving students from multiple counties across northern Michigan. In 2022, the college celebrated its 70th anniversary.

The college has continually expanded its academic offerings, technical training programs, and transfer partnerships while maintaining a focus on workforce development and community service.
