Thomas Farnquist

Thomas Farnquist is an American commercial diver and underwater explorer best known for his involvement in expeditions to the wreck of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, one of the most famous shipwrecks in Great Lakes history. Farnquist participated in exploration and recovery efforts associated with the wreck site and was involved in the historic mission that recovered the vessel's original bronze bell from the bottom of Lake Superior.

The SS Edmund Fitzgerald was a Great Lakes freighter that sank during a severe storm on November 10, 1975, while traveling across Lake Superior. All twenty-nine crew members aboard were lost. The disaster became one of the most widely known maritime tragedies in North American history. ¹⁾
